COMPANION CARE SERVICES
Conversation and Companionship
Whether the client needs conversation, company, or just eating a meal together, having someone to sit and visit with can help make for a happier, healthier life. Interacting with every client is of utmost importance.
Meal Preparation
Many seniors do not have the opportunity to eat well-balanced meals. Our caregivers can prepare hot, delicious, nutritious meals. This service gives our clients the opportunity to eat the nutritious meals they need to enjoy healthier living. Because many seniors may have sodium restrictions or are diabetic, our caregivers must give consideration to the client’s diet restrictions. They must also take care in adding certain spices. Spoon-feeding clients is not permitted. This is something that requires specific training in areas such as choking hazards and also requires licensing. Caregivers may help seniors cut their food and even “load” their fork, but the client needs to be able to feed him or herself.
Light Housekeeping
Vacuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms to include sinks, showers, tubs and toilets, cleaning kitchens, sinks, appliances, counters, taking out the trash, straightening all rooms, making beds, organizing closets and drawers, and cleaning any interior windows that can be reached without a step stool and/ or ladder.
Errand Services
Caregivers can run errands such as picking up prescriptions, going to the post office, or any type of routine chore. If the caregiver uses his/her own vehicle, both the hourly rate and mileage charge would apply.
Grocery Shopping
Caregivers can shop with or without the client accompanying them. They can shop at any store the client prefers and can use any coupons provided. If the caregiver uses his/her own vehicle, both the hourly rate and mileage charge would apply.
Incidental Transportation
The caregiver can provide trips to doctor appointments, barbershops, beauty salons, shopping, wherever the client likes to go. Getting seniors out and about is good for their mind, body and spirit. If the caregiver uses his/her own vehicle, both the hourly rate and mileage charge would apply.
Daily “TLC” Phone Calls
This service is a telephone call to those clients who may not need someone coming to their home everyday, but they and their families can have peace of mind knowing that if they need something, we will be checking in on them each day. Management may request that the “on-call” personnel make these daily calls as scheduled.
Laundry & Linen Washing
These services can be done in either the client’s home or the Laundromat, and includes washing, drying, ironing and putting things away.
Medication Reminders
Aging at Home Solution can provide assistance with medication management including opening medication containers or medpaks, reading labels and reminding the person to take their medications. The Certified Medication Technician (CMT) may prepare, administer, and chart non-injectable medications administered: orally; by nebulizer; metered dose inhaler; topically (excluding wound or decubitus site care); by suppository; and by ear, eye, and nose drops. CMTs may administer oxygen by nasal cannula and mask.
Recreation Activities
Whether it’s cards, board games, or a walk in the park, Aging at Home Solution can help keep our clients active in mind and body. We can take the client out to enjoy their favorite activities.
Grooming & Dressing Guidance
Client must be able to get in and out of the bathtub on his/her own. We can be there in case of a fall, but we cannot physically lift the client. Caregiver can help pick out the client's clothes. Anything more is not permitted. Caregivers cannot perform transfers with or without the aid of equipment. Caregivers are not permitted to do hands-on bathing or deal with incontinence issues. These are areas that require a state licensed CNA.
Organize Incoming Mail
We can assist the client in separating the junk mail from the important mail, and let them know when a response to a letter is needed or bills are due. We can assist with sending out cards, letters, and packages to the client’s family and friends.
Periodic Review with Family
On a recurring basis, we can contact the family to discuss how things are going, answer any concerns or redefine any services that may be needed. This is a great service for clients whose families live far away or may not be in daily contact with their loved ones.
PERSONAL CARE SERVICES
Bathing
Bathing is essential to an individual’s sense of well-being. It refreshes the spirit, provides relaxation while cleansing the skin and stimulating circulation. The Aging at Home Solution Personal Care Assistant can provide a shower, tub bath or bed bath to the client depending on their need.

Transferring and Positioning
Moving or placing a person into a correct posture position encourages the functional activity of the body’s many systems. It assists in eliminating pressure areas on the skin, reducing atrophy and stiffening of muscles, encourages proper breathing, digestion, and elimination. Aging at Home Solution Personal Care Assistants can at no time lift more than 25 pounds.
Incontinence Care/Toileting
The inability to control urination or defecation is embarrassing to individuals and can become unsanitary if not taken care of correctly. Our caregivers understand the sensitivity of this situation and approaches to caring for individuals with this problem. Changing of disposable undergarments and emptying catheters are all duties that the Personal Care Assistant can provide. Elimination is an important and normal body function. However, it is usually an activity that is private and one that is not openly discussed. The individual often faces embarrassment along with a sense of loss of independence. Our caregivers will strive to provide an acceptable, comfortable and safe environment for all types of toileting needs.

It is especially important for a person whose body is in a weakened condition. Aging at Home Solution caregivers can prepare nutritional meals to give the client energy to carry out the day's activities, which are also necessary to rebuild body tissue, prevent disease and are essential to any healing process.
Feeding
Aging at Home Solution Personal Care Assistants understand that it can be hard for adults to accept the idea of not being able to feed themselves and therefore have to be fed. The reasons for this are varied, however the sense of loss of independence is real. Our caregivers understand the feelings this can cause and take the extra effort to make the environment and mealtime special through interaction and socialization.
